Captain Rivian, a notorious pirate commander, sat at the head of the table in the dimly lit cantina well away from the core systems of the Fringe. Her eyes scanned the room, watching for any signs of trouble. She had arranged to meet a group of mercenaries who had expressed interest in joining her crew for a raid on a small independent space station nearby. The job promised a good payout, but she needed to make sure the terms were agreed upon before they set off.
The mercenaries entered the cantina, five of them in total, all armed to the teeth. Rivian noted their weapons and armor, evaluating their suitability for the job. They sat down at the table opposite her, eyeing her up and down.
“Greetings, Captain,” the leader of the mercenaries said. “My name is Jorem. My associates and I are interested in your offer to raid the space station.”
Rivian nodded, “Very well, but first let us discuss the terms of the job.”
Jorem leaned forward, his eyes flickering with interest. “Of course, what are your terms?”
Rivian pulled out a datapad and tapped in a few details before sliding it across the table to Jorem. “I need you and your team to infiltrate the New Kepler 7 station and steal any valuable cargo. The payment will be in the form of credits and a share of the plunder. The total payout will be 5,000,000 credits, with a 30% cut for your team.”
Jorem looked at the datapad, studying the details. “This is a high-risk job. The New Kepler system is on the edge of ATN patrol space. We want a higher percentage of the payout.”
Rivian raised an eyebrow. “You want more than 30%?”
“Yes,” Jorem replied firmly. “We are risking our lives for this job. We believe we should receive 40% of the payout.”
Rivian considered this. She needed the mercenaries for this job, but she also needed to make a profit. “I will give you 35%, but that is the highest I will go.”
Jorem leaned back in his chair, considering her offer. “Very well, we accept.”
Rivian nodded. “Good. You will receive the full payment once the job is complete. Half of the payment will be transferred to your account before we begin, and the other half will be transferred once you return with the stolen goods.”
Jorem nodded in agreement, “That is acceptable.”
Rivian glanced at the other members of Jorem’s team, sizing them up. “And what are your specialties?”
“We have a demolitions expert, two sharpshooters, and a technician who can hack into any system,” Jorem replied.
Rivian nodded, “Impressive. You will be a valuable addition to my crew.”
Jorem smiled, “Glad to be of service.”
Rivian stood up, signaling the end of the meeting. “We will depart tomorrow at dawn. Meet me at the docking bay at that time.”
Jorem and his team stood up as well. “We’ll be there.”
Rivian watched as they left the cantina, feeling confident that the job would be a success. She would soon be richer, and her reputation as a pirate commander would only grow stronger.
The meeting ended, leaving the pirate commander Rivian and the mercenaries Jorem and his team to prepare for the upcoming mission.
